Green Gardening Tips

What better way to get “green” this season, than to start with your garden.  Not only is gardening good physical exercise, but it is good for the environment. 

With green becoming all the rage, follow these pointers to becoming a Green Gardener.

• Grow your own organic food.  With organic food becoming more expensive (even more so than before), you will save money and it is better for your health.  It also benefits the environment because organic food is not grown using any harmful pesticides or any other chemicals.  Not to mention that your fruits and vegetable will be at your fingertips whenever they are needed.

• Use a rain barrel to collect run-off rain water to water your garden and plants.  This will help conserve water and you’ll definitely see the difference on your monthly bill!  Plus, when in a drought, a rain barrel is a dependable source of water for any need.

• Use organic or natural pesticides and fertilizers, if needed.  These are safe alternatives from traditional fertilizers which contribute to adding harmful toxins to the environment and water sources.
